According to HarassMap, since 30 June, there have been 173 cases of mob sexual assaults reported at protests in Tahrir Square and in front of the Presidential Palace. The esclation of sexual assaults against women has led to a number of campaigns working to raise awareness and combating what they describe as an epidemic of violence against women protesters. Operation Anti-Sexual Harassment/Assault is one of these organizations, which has tried to rescue women who are exposed to such attacks. So what is a typical night like for these activists who try to extract women from such dangerous situations? What challenges are these activists facing in combating sexual violence?
